Snurdle arrived November 3, 2002. She was about three months old, and due to health issues, her owner could no longer care for her. The woman contacted the Erie County SPCA to surrender her, but was told that she'd be put down immediately due to lack of space. So the owner thought a better option would be to leave the little pig at the side of the road...a certain death. She'd die from exposure, get hit by a car or be killed be a dog or coyote. If someone did find and catch her, there'd be no guarantee that she'd have a safe home. Fortunately someone told the owner to call me and I was able to quickly take her. She had already been spayed but her owner decided the day to day care for the small pig was just too much. Snurdle took Alix's place in the petting zoo and was a great traveller, loading and unloading herself just as Ali had. She always knew right where to go once we were set up and would happily settle into her large pen to await loving hands and scratches. On overnights she proved herself to be a great snuggler and was happy to share a donated sleeping bag with me. When Ahurei arrived her schedule was cut back and he did more trips, but when asked to go she was the first one on the trailer. Snurdle is retired now and happily spending her days relaxing with Gizmo. In a pinch she can go, but any work now is left to Urei and the "girls", Carly and Truffles, and sometimes Piggles.
