Sassy has an extra dew claw (polydactly)
Sassy joined us as a less than two year old on January 18, 2005 because her owner was no longer able to care for her. She was only about 18 months old and had been given to the woman by her daughter as a gift. Though she tried to care for her, it was too much and the call came in to adopt Sassy. She's a terriffic little pig who didn't object when she was picked up and carried to the truck by total strangers. She let me put my fingers in her mouth and even gently opened it wider for me to look inside. As I was giving her the once-over, I discovered that Sassy has an extra dew claw on a front foot, a condition called polydactly (see photo above). Sass has never been anything but kind and gentle and is a wonderful people greeter when visitors come. She obviously came from a loving home and had a good start. We've enjoyed having her as part of our group and hope she's a member of Camp Skipping Pig for years to come.
Sadly, on July 22, 2015, my dear Sassy was discovered deceased during the morning feeding. Her loss came as a shock, as she'd been acting perfectly normally during the previous evening's feeding. She'll be sadly missed. She was only 12.
